Level 1 Vocal Instruction
Start with the basics! Lessons 1 - 6
In this initial series of modules, we will work on the basics of singing. Beginning with passive breathing and exercises to strengthen the core, you'll get the fundamentals right away! We'll use yoga and other exercises to release the muscles that inhibit sound. Then, quickly, we'll move to basic scales and ear training for pitch. Each lesson builds on the last one. As the lessons become more challenging your voice gains strength and control. Your voice will transform!
Your Instructor
Every voice is different, as is every student. Lisa takes the time to find out the client’s background, taking in to account other training, habits, and health issues.
She has an innovative approach using physical alignment, exercise and nutrition to help build and maintain a healthy instrument. Yoga, breathing and relaxation techniques are explored. Vocal exercises, tailored to the individual student, strengthen the vocal cords and larynx and release the tongue and jaw. Lisa helps her clients tap in to their own unique way of expressing a song, making every performance unique.
Lisa is also a registered nurse. This gives her the ability to work closely with doctors and speech therapists to not only rehabilitate clients with vocal nodules, but to recognize symptoms of vocal misuse before it becomes debilitating. She is a vocal health expert and prioritizes safe singing to ensure each of her students enjoys a long, healthy career.
Lisa works from her Music Row Studio in the historic RCA Building and loves the community of the writers, producers and managers there. She has been able to help her clients connect with industry professionals. She will also telephone or Skype with her artists who can’t make it to a lesson or who are having problems on the road. She works with rising stars on The Voice, American Idol and the X Factor USA. Her students have been accepted to NYU, The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, USC, Yale, Evansville and Dartmouth.
